I'm a forgetful cat.
This was my update before I went to bed, that I forgot to upload.
Gonna edit out some of the more prominent repeating elements, but this is my new texture sheet for now for the wood.
Just a few lights. Got my candle flames in there, made particles for my fireplace if I decide to leave it on and if it's a night scene (or evening)
Redid the planks again

Small Props map
Redid my materials for my small props.
And put my second window back in. Need to add exposed brick to my fireplace tonight and that should all help break up that boring side.

Some crate progress
Alright working on the other stuff but right now, here's what I'm doing... Finishing that damn crate!
That came out a lot lighter in the snip... Anyway! I think the hay looks fine except the pieces I have sticking up which are obviously cards and they look like ass.
Anybody know how to adjust the normals so they look more natural, more organic? I'm adjusting the opacity map right now so it is rounder and less squared.

I learned how to fix my shadows.
One of my biggest problems in trying to light was that my assets were not casting shadows.
I'm still not sure why this is, but I got a little bit of help today on my lighting and we found that converting my static meshes to interp actors allowed them to cast shadows.
Also, Dylan, I realized why that wall is so bare. It was another boarded up window before. I should replace that tomorrow.

Wood Rack
Redid the UVs almost entirely, changed the size of the scooper, added edge wear (it's just a repeating segment of my map that tiles on U, just moved my UVs onto the edge of it ). I added the chamfer to the edges that were most obvious and fixed some of my issues on the material/texture.

Polished up some materials
Finished off a normal and spec map for the crates, as well as did maps for the wood planks. Still tweaking some values in the materials. While I was at it, I did some fixes to the material for my wall as well

Small update
Small update with Rust and a little bit more color to my dirt/grime. Upped the contrast on my brighter areas as well since they were so hard to see in the dim lighting.
Still need to change the size of the boards. Finish it tomorrow and do the other maps, as well as fixing the geo on the wood rack.

Wood Rack diffuse changes
Tweaked my maps for the wood rack. Fixing the crate.
The rifles in the crate are going to use the same materials as the main rifle, so those won't really be touched.

Lighting taking some shape
So i'm having some trouble with lighting. It's something none of my classes have gone over exceedingly well.
I try and have light come in through the window to cast the shadows of the boards, but that doesn't work. I place it inside to get a long shadow on the chair, but the fill lights to light the carpet remove that shadow.
Anybody with knowledge of UDK lighting: I will buy you a beer and say nice things about you if you hook me up with some knowledge and/or help.

Pack it in
Moving everything in tighter, exported in more broken stuff. This was my old camera angle and when I pack the scene tighter it doesn't work at all
Trying out this new angle. Solving some preliminary lighting tomorrow and will use that to determine what my new angle should be.
If I do this angle, I think I'm going to throw some small family photos on that wall.
It still feels a little haphazard to me, open to solid suggestions or paintovers.

Fixing those UVs
Still have some small props and fixed UVs to finish importing, but all my materials are in here.
I had to redo my rifle UVs because there were weird issues all over the place, and I found some of my materials were using JPGs that weren't the right resolution. Adjusted some of those as well.

Textures Imported
Imported my textures... Then realized the assets were imported from my old build since I left my final at home last week... So yeah, big mistake.
I have to hit the sack early tonight, but I'll be up early and import all the meshes with the correct UVs, which will fix a lot of this jankiness.

Got UDK working
And started getting stuff in there now.
Going back and light mapping some things as well. Haven't imported textures yet

A hiccup...
During class the other day, I was able to bring in my walls. I had to fix a few light maps (though you can see light maps that weren't fixed plain as day).
I brought it home, exported a bunch of my props and it tells me that the UDK file I made at school is from a newer version? I thought we were using February 2013 at school?
Anyways, it won't let me save my scene, so I can't really place these. I posted a screen of my content browser having importing the OBJs, just so it didn't seem like I was BSing anyone here.
